Tropical disease clinics deal with the prevention, treatment and research of tropical disease and disorders. From providing vaccinations and travel advice for travellers to the diagnosis and specialist treatment required when a disease has been acquired from another part of the world, the services are extremely varied.

After six years of undergraduate medical training these experts received focused training in the field of medicine and are members of the Royal College of Physicians, specialising in tropical disorders and diseases.

There are a variety of reasons for visiting a travel or tropical disease clinic including for travel advice, immunisation and vaccination against diseases prevalent in the area of travel and treatment for tropical disorders including limes disease, cholera, hepatitis, malaria and yellow fever.

Those who visit a tropical disease clinic are either embarking on travel to an area that carries a risk of a tropical disease, or have acquired a condition from overseas that requires treatment.
